Robotics in education is fast becoming a popular way to engage students in the fundamental STEM concepts (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). As from this scholastic year, the Lego Education Mindstorms NXT robotics sets, form part of our school’s curriculum for Form 3 Computer Studies students, who are using them for early problem-solving and algorithm construction. Our school currently avails of two robot sets. These excellent teaching tools are perfectly suited for different ages, aptitudes and mixed ability classes. They allow our students to build real robotic machines using the Lego Education brick, computerised blocks, sensors and motors, and bring them to life through the easy to use NXT-G software.

We plan to also use these robotic sets to introduce and help develop programming knowledge in Java through the LeJOS firmware, which provides a Java programming environment for NXTs for Form 4 and 5 Computer Studies students. Moreover, we plan to introduce the versatile Lego Education Mindstorms NXT robotics sets in other subjects as well.
Additionally, we will be offering an introductory course to robotics for Forms 2, 3, 4 and 5 students during the summer holidays. Click here for more details.
